A day in the life of an Army wife...Our Homefront Happenings

I thought I should poke my head out and say hello! These are Vday flowers my hubby sent me from Iraq! Well, he ordered them from Iraq!He has been gone since October and I do have to admit, time is flying. It's already almost time for his two week R&R and I am anxiously awaiting word on when that will be.
Before he left my parents came and took the boys back to PA with them so Clay and I had two weeks alone. We had so much fun. We went to the movies, shopping, bike riding. But my favorite- we went to Graceland!!! We made some really good memories for this year he's gone.
Caleb adjusted really well in his school. I am really happy with the school. I made alot of new friends thru the school and we meet every Monday at a donut shop for coffee and get togethers in between. This Friday we're going out to dinner and bowling which should be...Interesting.
Well, I'm off to go visiting and see how you all are doing!

We have been trying to find a storage unit to rent and everything is full b/c of all the deployments. Clay finally found a place in Hopkinsville so it's a little bit of a drive but it could be worse, his friend had to rent one in Nashville! I didn't know where to buy boxes or what stores to call to get them and on the way home someone near us must have just moved in b/c they had boxes out front! So I knocked and asked if we could have them so we took them home, so now we have boxes and storage so we're set. We can start loading things up and taking them to storage instead of rushing at once.
On to bigger and better news- We bought a new van! We got a 2005 Toyota Sienna. We got the one with the DVD player so that'll be a big help for the boys on the drive home. I love this van!
We have about three more weeks together so it's starting to hit me that he's really going back to Iraq again. It went by so fast last time so I'm sure this time will, too.

Today is my hubby's birthday!!!!
He is so busy with work, he wasn't even able to come home for lunch. We're gonna go out to eat for dinner before we go to church tonight. He wants to go to this rib place he likes. blah! But it's his bday so I guess I can choke it down...literally!
I've been busy sorting things in the house. I'm trying to get rid of things I don't want in storage for a year including toys and the boys are not happy about it!
Clay has been really busy and now they are starting to pack their bags, next week they have to turn in bags that are being shipped to Iraq so that the bags are ready for them by the time they get there.
It has been so nice having him home for a year, I'm not ready for him to go back. But the sooner he leaves the sooner he'll be back again.
Happy Birthday, Clay!!!! XOXO

Today we just ran errands and came home and bummed around. We played board games with the boys and then we played some card games. Clay let me be a couch potato and I admit...I watched "Clueless" (I missed you K!)
It was a nice, lazy day and I'm not ready for Monday!

I am the worst blogger! I have been super busy but wanted to take a minute to update. Clay and I went on a cruise! My sister watched the boys for us. We had a great week. We left port in Miami and went to the Bahamas, St. Thomas & St. Maarten. It was fabulous! Clay got orders for Iraq again so we wanted to do something fun before he left. We went back to PA to pick up the boys and then we took a four car convoy from PA to KY with my mom, dad, sister, nephews, me, Clay and my kids. My mom and I drove down to LA with my sister and spent the weekend with them. Clay & my dad stayed here with the boys. It was fun with just the girls. Tuesday we took my parents to Nashville and walked around Opry Mills Mall and ate at the Aquarium rest. They left this morning and today I'm trying to deal with the "real world" again. Back to grocery shopping, cleaning, laundry, etc. We met a couple on the cruise that live about two hours away so we were planning on meeting in Nashville this weekend but I forgot I have to dog sit for a friend, she has two dogs so I don't want to go to Nashville and leave three Golden retrievers running around my house all day! lol

I had to watch my friends kids for a night while she took her daughter to the ER b/c her temp was 105, so something is really going around here. I had just been bragging too that the flu passed over us when Caleb got sick!
We were supposed to have friends come visit for the weekend but they cancelled last minute b/c their daughter got a fever and cough. I was really bummed b/c it was a four day weekend so had I known they weren't coming I could have gone home!
Today I bought bubble bath and a bath pillow and I was just about to get pampered when my friend called me. Her son lost her car keys (her only set) while they were at IHOP and her husband is away at training so she called me crying asking me to pick her up. It's too late now for a bath so I think I'm going to go talk Clay into making me a milk shake! LOL

I have been so busy lately but having a good time. We ended up going home right after Cmas and staying almost two weeks. I had an absolute blast, of course!
My schedule is crazy lately- Joshua started speech appts. twice a week, I have a women's group I go to once a week, Joshua has Library school every Thursday and I joined MOPS here. Well having something every day is getting to me so I think I am going to cut one or two things out. I love to be home, not running around. (Karen, I know you know how I feel!)
We had some company this past weekend. We had friends when we were stationed at Ft. Lewis five years ago that we were really close with. Well I moved to PA and they got stationed in Germany so we lost touch. We found them recently and found out they got out of the Army and moved to their home town... 2 hours away! So they came here Friday for the weekend. It was like old times!
Clay is in the field this week and then in March he goes to Ft. Polk for training for five weeks. He came home from work last week with a bullet proof vest that they passed out to his Unit...so orders for Iraq are coming upon us again.
Other then that...life is the same around here! LOL
